Two hotels, one family, and a short list of things we refuse to get wrong.
RV Grand is a small group of owner-run hotels, built on a simple idea: the things guests actually remember are a clean room, a cool room, hot water at five in the morning and somebody awake at the desk when the train is late.
The first hotel opened in Nizampet, Hyderabad, a boutique property where every corridor carries a different state of India. The second opened in Varanasi, built for the pilgrims and family groups who arrive together and want to stay together.
We are not a chain and we do not pretend to be. Both hotels are run by the family that owns them, which is why the number on the sign reaches somebody who can actually change your booking.
Reception, security and housekeeping run 24 hours at both hotels.
Rooms are checked twice before a guest sees them. Linen is changed daily.
The people who answer the phone can change your booking. No call centre.

Coach parties, family functions, temple tours: the Varanasi hotel was designed around them, with a dining hall that seats the whole group and a lift to every floor.
